Tch. Pathetic village. Maybe this is a waste of my time.
But then the memory of those dancing shadows, of the light cast by explosions and the feeling of hundreds of rocks against his skin, crushing and suffocating him into a deep slumber that should have been death.
Oh. That's why.
Hidan was waiting, perched just outside of Konohagakure's gates like a slender, silver feline, his scythe (which he had previously dug up) resting against his side like three wickedly curved claws. With each shinobi that left the gates, Hidan had to fight a boiling fury within him. He had to wait for just one certain shinobi; that shadow brat. And maybe that Kyuubi kid, too.
But mostly the shadow bastard.
Revenge swam through his veins instead of blood. He and Kakuzu may have hated each other with a deeply embedded passion, but he was- had been- still Hidan's partner. Hidan may not have been Akatsuki anymore, but he was still going to sacrifice every heathen bastard that laid a hand on Kakuzu or himself to Jashin.
Damn it, I've been here for weeks and haven't seen any of those snot-nosed brats yet... He cursed mentally.
Maybe it was time to enter the village himself. He was immortal, after all; and on the plus side, Hidan no longer had the Akatsuki to force him to hold back, even though he still bore their cloak.
Hidan's fingers twitched as he gripped the handle of his scythe.
That's it. If one of those fucking brats doesn't come out within an hour, I'm going in- and slaughtering everyone in my path, he finally decided, a smirk splashing his face.

Naruto Casually walked through the gates, not noticing anything unusual, he was heading to the training grounds, not even a half mile from the gates, to train as he had every morning since after he became a chunin. He scratched the top of his head. It was summer and it was HOT. He continued to walk, thinking of a new move he could try to come up with. He grinned, he would have to be in shape soon for his next mission, they would be watching him, the ANBU, to see if he was worthy of joining their ranks as The Hokage's right hand. He though of being ever-closer to his dream of being the Rokudaime Hokage.

A flash of brilliant blonde hair and dazzling cerulean eyes. Hidan shot up like a rocket as soon as his eyes caught the sight of a young-looking- Chuunin?- marching through the gates. Hidan felt confused; the kid looked familiar somehow, but he couldn't quite put his finger on it-
And then he saw the whisker-like scars.
Hidan's blood began to boil once more and he gripped the handle of his scythe tightly as his knuckles went white. It was him, the Kyuubi brat, the one that killed Kakuzu. Hidan wanted nothing more than to kill him right then and there, but Hidan had to be more careful than that, with the village so close.
No, Hidan would follow him to wherever he was heading, and then he would strike. But he had to be careful not to reveal himself until they were out of sight of the village. In a flicker of movement, Hidan disappeared from the trees and began to stalk his prey quietly like a cat following a mouse, or at least he hoped; he was a bit out of practice after being buried under rocks.
Already he was planning the most pain possible for the little bastard; pikes through his gut, senbon in his legs and arms, yes that sounded nice... and then, of course, stabbing through the heart to kill him. Hidan should probably get some of Uzumaki's blood now- but no, that would risk exposure.

Naruto faintly detected something following him. If he hadn't matured SOMEWHAT over the years, he would outright challange it then and there. he kept walking, continuing along, passing through the gate into Kohana training ground #4
He did some stretches, yawned, then casually slid his hand down and grabbed three shuriken started to aim at a dummy them but at the last second he turned around and threw the bladed weapons at his stalker. "I Heard you there! come on out and fight me!"
He then got down into a defencive position, in case of a counter attack, drawing a single Kunai, flipping the blade backwards and backing off some.
"Heh heh, sorry I'm late...a black cat crossed my path, you see, so I had to take the scenic route."

Hidan, at first, was shocked as he didn't have time to move from the flung weapons. They pierced his cloak and his skin, but he barely felt the pain as he began to laugh, loudly. It seems as if the brat had matured. Hidan would give him his demand; after all, he wasn't beyond giving someone their last wish on this earth.
"So you were able to fucking sense me. Big fucking deal. You're still dead," Hidan claimed as he stepped out of the shadows, a smirk on his face. He pulled his scythe out from behind him, dusting off his Akatsuki cloak rather pointedly. As he looked up into Naruto's eyes, his smirk quickly dropped into a scowl.
"You remember me, you arrogant son of a bitch? Or how about my partner you killed?" Hidan slid low to the ground, holding his scythe loosly, eyes scanning Naruto for any weaknesses in his stance.

Naruto blinked... this was that sacreligious guy that prayed before he fought shikamaru! He was akatsuki! "Yeah I remember you, you fought shikamaru diddn't ya?" Naruto wasn't thinking at the moment, the sun was partially up. there was a brooke behind him and several trees around. "To bad I'm not yamato... He could use his Mokuton techniques in this situation..." He then formed several hand seals. "Multi shadow clone jutsu!" around 250 Naruto clones appeared. "Bring it on, freak!" The clones grabbed Kunai and shuriken and took on asimalar fighting stance as Naruto. "I hope I can beat this guy...."
